Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Bicyclist

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police say a pickup truck driver who collided with a bicyclist, killing him, has been charged in the incident.

Officers say on Nov. 24, 52-year-old John Phillip Kline of Hagerstown was driving a Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission truck on Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg. Police say Kline was trying to make a left turn on a green signal when he collided with 60-year-old Andrew Gerard Malizio of Gaithersburg, who was riding a bicycle.

Malizio was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Feb. 5, Kline was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic on a left turn and negligent driving.
