Dozens Attend Lighting Of The Miracle On 34th Street

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The red carpet is rolled out as dozens of people welcome the holiday season.

For the 25th year, more than two dozen homeowners on W. 34th Street deck their homes for Christmas.

Of course, Santa showed up for the Lighting of the Miracle on 34th Street.

Between now and New Years Day, people make it a point to drive past or walk to see the festive homes.

Some worried the event would not take place this year because of increased violence in the Hampden area.

"It would have broken my heart because this is a tradition that my grandfather took me to. And I hope nobody ruins it and police did the best job to keep it going," said Jami Jones.

For two days, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, the lights will stay on all night.
