Coast Guard Suspends Search For 2 Boaters On Severn River

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- The Coast Guard has suspended its search for two missing boaters on the Severn River near Annapolis.

Crews found a boat they say sank in the frigid waters off Beach Road and Sherwood Forest.

They also found a lifejacket and hunter decoys several hundred feet from the shore.

The Coast Guard says one witness reported hearing screaming and seeing at least one person in the water who did not resurface.

Crews searched for more than six hours, covering more than 50 linear miles.

Searchers have located a lifejacket and have recovered a sunken boat.

Boat crews from Maryland Natural Resources Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police Department, Anne Arundel Fire and a helicopter crew from Maryland State Police aided in the search.
