Delaney Gift To Georgetown Honors Hillary Clinton

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. Rep. John Delaney is making a gift to establish a Hillary Clinton Fellowship at Georgetown University's law school.

Delaney's office said Wednesday that the Maryland Democrat and his wife April donated $1 million to their alma mater to establish three programs, including the Clinton felllowship.

The fellowship will provide funding for graduates to work for a year at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security.

The Clintons and Delaney are strong political allies. Delaney raised more than $800,000 for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. And former President Bill Clinton helped raise funds for Delaney's 2012 congressional campaign.

The Delaneys' gift also will fund the Delaney Fellowship, enabling graduates to work in the public interest, and the Delaney Scholars program, to help students prepare for public-interest work.
