Defenders Day In Md. Marked With Reenactments

DUNDALK, Md. (AP) -- To commemorate Defenders Day, more than 90 re-enactors will assemble at Fort Howard Park in Dundalk to relive the Battle of North Point, an important moment in the Battle of 1812.

The event, on Saturday and Sunday, commemorates America's defeat of the British on Sept. 12, 1814, and will feature live performances, living history demonstration, refreshments and a fireworks display.

Although Defenders Day is a state-recognized holiday, this year is particularly special: it marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore and the Star-Spangled Banner.
