Deadline For Report On Business Climate Extended

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland lawmakers have extended a deadline for a commission to submit a report on the state's business climate.

House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller met recently with the commission's chairman, Norman Augustine. They say they believe the panel's work would benefit from more time and analysis with a specific focus on the state's tax structure.

Busch and Miller say results from meetings across the state with industry leaders and private sector experts have exceeded expectations.

The final report had been scheduled to be submitted in December. Now, the presiding officers say the goal for a full and final report is September 2015.

They say interim recommendations to be made in time for the legislative session that begins next month would be welcome.
