DC's First Cat Cafe To Open In Georgetown June 20

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Washington's first "cat cafe" will open its doors this month.

WUSA-TV reports Crumbs & Whiskers will open on O Street in Georgetown June 20.

The new cafe, which came to fruition through a Kickstarter campaign that more than doubled the original goal, will be populated with cats provided by the Washington Humane Society. The owners hope the cafe will be a source of stress relief and will encourage people to adopt cats of their own.

Patrons have to schedule their visit to the cafe ahead of time. The scheduling is already live for certain Kickstarter backers, but goes live for everyone June 18.

A launch party June 19 has already sold out.
