DC Man Arrested In Southern Maryland Bank Robbery

CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. (AP) -- State police say the suspect in a bank robbery last week in southern Maryland has been arrested in the District of Columbia.

Police say 40-year-old Troy Wertz of Washington was identified thanks in part to help from the public. He's believed to be responsible for the armed robbery of a PNC Bank branch in Charlotte Hall on the morning of Friday, Oct. 15.

Wertz was arrested Friday by members of a fugitive task force. Police say investigators also seized evidence in the bank robbery.

Wertz is being held at the D.C. jail pending extradition to St. Mary's County. He'll face charges including armed robbery, first-degree assault and use of a handgun during a felony.
