DC Jewish Film Festival To Feature 80+ Films Over 11 Days

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Washington Jewish Film Festival is opening its 25th anniversary event, featuring more than 80 films over the next 11 days.

Organizers say this is the most ambitious festival to date. It opens Thursday and runs through March 1.

The opening night film is "Magic Men" at the D.C. Jewish Community Center. It's a story of a Greek-born atheist and his estranged Hasidic rapper son who travel from Israel to Greece searching for the magician who saved the father's life during World War II.

Films will be screened across the Washington area, including at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring and at Sidney Harman Hall.

On Feb. 26, the festival will feature a special screening of the film "East Jerusalem, West Jerusalem" and musical performances.
