David Lough Gives Insight On Being A Role Player

Orioles outfielder David Lough joined the Scott Garceau Show with Terry Ford and Jeremy Conn to discuss Orioles baseball.

The corner outfield positions have been a revolving door all year long for the Orioles, with various players stepping in to the fill the hole. David talked about how difficult it can be to always be ready even when he is not in the starting lineup. "This game is about repetition. When you do sit for 4 or 5 games and you get called in to hit, it's tough. I can be called on 7th, 8th, 9th inning of the game and I got to be ready. I prepare myself everyday to be in the lineup and to at least play the game at some time."

David shared insight on how he prepares to enter a game when within the dugout. "I do a lot of running, and inside, there isn't a big running area for us to run in. So I'm in the hallways of our clubhouse just sprinting down the hallway, hoping that no one comes around the corner."

With the Orioles having such an up and down year, David also commented on the importance of grinding it out one day at a time. "You have your ups and downs all the time. You're going to go through stretches where you lose a lot of games, you're going to go through stretches where you win a lot of games. It's about the end; who perseveres and comes out on top and makes the playoffs. It's game on from there."
