Another cold night expected in Maryland, Warmer air building in
Maryland experienced bitterly cold weather on Monday morning following snowfall on Saturday night and early Sunday.
Expect another round of dangerous cold Monday night into Tuesday morning before a warm-up over the next couple of days.
Another cold start Tuesday
The big story for Baltimore continues to be the frigid feel.
Tonight, we'll have temperatures that tumble back into the teens nearly areawide. Thankfully, strong winds from Monday will ease overnight. We still will have some wind but since it won't be as strong, wind chills will be slightly higher (but not by much).
Tuesday morning will once again feature wind chills in the single digits for some neighborhoods. If you need to be outside early on Tuesday, be sure to prepare the same way you did for Monday morning.
Clouds eventually clear overnight so be sure to take the sunglasses! The sun reflecting off the snow can be very bright.
Thawing out this week
Speaking of snow, we'll start to melt it away starting Tuesday as temperatures rise above freezing.
High pressure builds in so more sunshine is on the way. That helps temperatures rise into the 30s and 40s. The winds stay on the light side, meaning wind chills will be closer to the actual air temperatures. It'll feel like the low to mid-30s at the warmest part of the day.
Tuesday is just the beginning of a warming trend this week.
Wednesday's temperatures rise to near 50°. Thursday will warm into the upper 40s to low 50s.
With warmer air building in, our next weather-maker will bring more rain versus snow to the Baltimore area. Clouds increase through the day on Thursday. Most of the day will be dry until late into Friday morning, when rain showers move in from the west. It's looking like a wet morning commute on Friday. Showers continue through midday before clearing out. Even after rain moves out, Friday will not be the most pleasant day -- winds will be strong and temperatures fall through the day.
Saturday looks cooler with highs in the 30s.
Milder air returns on Sunday, just in time for the Ravens' game.
