D.C. Police ID 2 Who Died Of Suspected Hypothermia

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Metropolitan Police Department has identified two people whose bodies were found earlier this week in southeast Washington.

Police suspect the cause of both deaths to be hypothermia.

Police found the body of the first man on Thursday around 11:16 a.m. in the 2300-block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Police identified the man Saturday as 57-year-old Robert Shafley of northeast Washington.

While investigating Shafley's death, detectives located the body of a second man. He has been identified as 61-year-old Andrew Thomas. Police say he had no fixed address.

An autopsy was performed in both cases, but the cause and manner of death in each case remains pending.
