D.C. Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Taxi Cab Driver

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Washington man has pleaded guilty to killing a taxi cab driver in 2013.

Ercell Overton pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder in the death of driver Solomon Okoroh of Glenarden, Md.

Prosecutors say police officers were on patrol in Washington's Adams Morgan neighborhood on June 4 when they heard a gunshot and saw a taxi pass them. As it passed, police officers heard the sound of a second shot. The taxi then hit a parked car.

Police say Overton fired at officers before he was captured. The plea agreement calls for him to spend 25 to 28 years in prison.

A telephone message left Thursday for a man listed as Overton's lawyer was not immediately returned.

Overton is scheduled to be sentenced on April 25.
