D.C. Man Convicted Of Fatally Shooting Cab Driver

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A D.C. man has pleaded guilty to killing a cab driver during a robbery in Northeast.

Rashad Slye, 23, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed in the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Domingo Ezirike. According to a plea agreement, Slye faces 17 years in prison at sentencing on April 4.

According to the government's evidence, on Oct. 22, 2011, Ezirike picked up Slye in Landover, Md.  Prosecutors say after Ezirike drove Slye to his destination on Ponds Street N.E., the two argued over the fare.

Authorities say Slye pulled out a handgun, searched Ezirike and his cab for money, and shot the driver before running away.
