D.C. Man Arrested In The Death Of Girlfriend's Infant Daughter

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a D.C. man has been arrested in the death of his girlfriend's infant daughter.

Police say in a news release that 23-year-old Kareem Bryant was arrested Thursday. He has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in the killing of 6-month-old Mariah Tilghman.

The girl was rushed to the hospital after officers responded to a call for a baby who wasn't breathing on Jan. 6 in Landover. She died three days later.

Police say that based on an autopsy report, the death was caused by blunt force trauma injuries to her head and chest. They say Bryant admitted that he had caused the injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear if Bryant has an attorney.
