D.C. Firefighter Dies In The Line Of Duty

WASHINGTON (WJZ) -- A Washington D.C. firefighter dies in the line of duty.

D.C. firefighter Lieutenant Kevin McRae has died after fighting a large apartment fire.

The fire broke out Wednesday morning on 7th Street.

You could see flames shooting through the top of the building.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said at a press conference he made it out of the building safely and then collapsed.

McRae had served with the department for more than 20 years.

He is the 100th firefighter to die in the line of duty in D.C.
