Czech Republic Man Killed While Crossing Road In Annapolis

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—A Czech Republic man was killed while attempting to cross the road Saturday night.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Forest Drive in Annapolis.

Police say a white Chrysler Pacifica was traveling southbound on Solomons Island Road when two pedestrians were attempting to cross the roadway westbound. Police say the first pedestrian ran across the road and was struck by the Chrysler. The victim, 26-year-old Petr Safar, of Czech Republic, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the cause of the crash was pedestrian error; neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
