Cumberland Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter In Stabbing
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A Cumberland man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and first-degree assault in a double stabbing in the western Maryland city earlier this year.
The Cumberland Times-News reports that 26-year-old Ralph Faith entered the plea agreement on Thursday in Allegany County Circuit Court.
Faith had pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in March in connection with the Jan. 29 death of Christopher Wigington.
Witnesses told investigators that Faith and Wigington were involved in a fight. Prosecutors say Faith stabbed Wigington and his girlfriend Tracey Harris during the incident.
Harris survived her wound, but Wigington did not.
As part of Faith's plea, the state is recommending a sentence of 23 1/2 years of incarceration as part of a larger suspended sentence.
Faith remains jailed without bond as he awaits sentencing.
