Truck Slams Into MTA Bus In Essex, Injuring 8

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Numerous people were injured after a crash involving a bus in Essex, Baltimore County Fire officials say.

The crash occurred on Eastern Boulevard at Taylor Avenue.

One person has life-threatening injuries, and numerous others have non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

In total, fire officials said at least eight people were taken to area hospitals.

MTA officials said two of the people hospitalized were the drivers.

Video from the scene shows a pickup truck pushed into the side of the bus.

A witness told WJZ the bus was stopped and passengers were about to get off when the crash happened. He said a man flew to the ground and people desperately tried to get off the bus as it filled with smoke.

"I was on the bus, I was getting off the bus at the bus stop right here," passenger Bobby Earl Bryant said. "The impact was so heavy it threw a 250-pound guy out of his seat onto the deck, knocked me into one of the sides and it shook up a whole lot of people."

Traffic in the area was delayed but has since returned to normal.
