1 Dead, Multiple Injured In Rt. 50 Crash

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)—A three-car crash claimed the life of one person and injured several others on Saturday afternoon in Anne Arundel County.

Police say as traffic was stopped at a standstill on Rt. 50 due to prior accident near exit 23, a 2011 Nissan X-Terra failed to stop causing a multi-vehicle crash just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the Nissan overturned on Rt. 50 at the Rt. 665 overpass just after slamming into a 2007 Toyota Corolla and a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

63-year-old Raymond W. Badders, of Manchester, was a passenger inside the 2007 Toyota Corolla. Police say as a result of the crash, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the 2011 Nissan was a 28-year-old off-duty officer with the Takoma Park Police Department.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Eastbound Rt. 50 was closed for several hours on Saturday while the scene was being cleared.
