Court Hearing For 1 of 2 Charged In High School Shooting

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- One of two men charged in a shooting that wounded two teenage boys outside a high school basketball game is headed to court in Frederick.

The hearing Wednesday afternoon for Chandler Davenport, 20, is listed as a pretrial conference. Prosecutors acknowledge there have been plea negotiations but neither side would say if they've reached an agreement.

Prosecutors say Davenport lured a group of rival gang members outside the Frederick High School gymnasium on the night of Feb. 4. They say 21-year-old Brandon Tyler then fired seven shots from a handgun and hit two boys, ages 14 and 15.

Each man is charged with 13 offenses, including first-degree assault, handgun violations, reckless endangerment and conspiracy.

Tyler's next court date is Oct. 27. His trial is set to begin Nov. 17.
