County Firefighter Dies In Motorcycle Crash

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A Baltimore County firefighter died early Sunday morning in a motorcycle accident. Another motorcyclist also died in the crash.

Fire officials say Fire Lieutenant Hubert Harrison, Jr., was leaving work around 4 a.m. and was heading to his home in Bowie when the accident occurred.

Officials say that accident occurred at 4:40 a.m. on Laurel-Bowie Road. Harrison's motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcyclist; both died at the scene.

"This is a terrible loss for the Fire Department and an even greater tragedy for Lt. Harrison's family," said Fire Chief John Hohman. "We offer heartfelt condolences to his wife and loved ones, and will offer all the support we can in the difficult days ahead."

The other motorcyclist was later identified as Fahad Iqbal.

Harrison was with the fire department for almost 29 years.
