Contractor: Silver Line Phase 1 Done, For 2nd Time

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The contractor building the Silver Line says it has completed the first phase of the project, which includes five stations taking Metro riders from East Falls Church to Wiehle Avenue in Reston.

Dulles Transit Partners filed paperwork Wednesday saying work is complete, the second attempt by the contractor at declaring its work done. Officials at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority now have 15 days to verify that the contractor has met its obligations.

When Dulles Transit Partners submitted its paperwork in February saying the line was complete the airports authority said the contractor failed to meet seven of 12 requirements including securing proper permits.

If the airports authority signs off this time, the next step is to present the project to Metro which will do 90 days of testing.
