Worker Dies After Falling From Building On UMD Campus

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A construction worker died Thursday after falling from a building that was under construction on the University of Maryland's campus.

Officials say the incident occurred around 1:14 p.m. in the 8100 block of Paint Branch Drive, where Francois Odil Dishmey Kelly fell to his death.

The Prince George's County Fire Department responded to the scene, and the case is now being investigated by the University of Maryland Police Department.

The accident happened at a building near Campus Dr. and Route 1.

Carlo Colella, Vice President of Administration & Finance, released the following statement:

"The university community is deeply saddened to learn of the death of a construction contractor working on campus today. We extend our heartfelt condolences.

"The University of Maryland Police Department and Maryland Occupational Safety and Health will investigate the incident. "

No foul play is suspected.
