Community To Honor Slain Harford County Deputy Mark Logsdon

HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)--The Harford County community rocked by the killing of two deputies is continuing to mourn the loss of two of their own.

Today a community remembers Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon, one day after Senior Deputy Pat Dailey is laid to rest.

Tracey Leong has more on the outpouring support at Logsdon's viewing.

A somber moment for the Harford County Sheriff's Honor Guard guiding in the flag draped casket of fellow deputy Mark Logsdon, who once stood beside them.

"This hurts and it goes deep, but they're resilient, they are strong, they are brave, they are courageous and they are pulling together, said Ben Cachiaras, lead pastor at Mountain Christian Church.

The fallen deputy is being remembered as a husband a father and a hero.

His wife, Jennifer Logsdon expressed her gratitude for all the support in a statement released on Thursday.

"This week has devastated my life and reminded me that life is precious and can change in the blink of an eye," she said. "Mark would want me to tell all of you to live life as he did – to the fullest.  Love each other, laugh with each other, and always remember to cherish every moment, as if it could be your last."

Killed in the line of duty on February 10, 43-year-old Deputy Logsdon was chasing down the suspect who fatally shot fellow Deputy Pat Dailey at a Panera Bread in Abingdon.

Logsdon was killed moments later in a shootout with the same suspect.

Emergency responders, law enforcement officers and community members filled the Mountain Christian Church, paying tribute to a U.S. Army veteran who bravely served the Harford County Sheriff's Office for 16 years.

A fallen hero whose selfless service will never be forgotten.

Deputy Logsdon's memorial will continue until 9:00 p.m. Thursday A second day of visitation will be at the Mountain Christian Church from 2 to 9 Friday.

Deputy Logsdon will be laid to rest Saturday at the Harford Community College.

Both Deputy Logsdon and Dailey will both relieve a Medal of Honor from the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
