City Paramedic Dies After Becoming Ill While On Duty

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A city paramedic had died after being hospitalized just a few days earlier, according to the Chief of the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Randy Kuenzli says Firefighter Nick Hemingway was hospitalized after going into cardiac arrest late Tuesday afternoon while on duty as a paramedic with the Baltimore City Fire Department. Kuenzli reports Hemingway was feeling ill throughout the day before being hospitalized.

Hemingway was a member of the Liberty Heights Fire Department in the city along with other departments including the volunteer department in Bladenburg.

Hemingway graduated the academy in recruit class 14-02.

Funeral arrangements were not made available at this time.
