Christie: I'd Rather Jump Off Bridge Than Be In Congress

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chris Christie wants to come to Washington. Just don't ask him to make the leap from governor of New Jersey to Capitol Hill legislator.

How strongly does the Republican presidential candidate feel? "I would rather jump off the Brooklyn Bridge than be in Congress."

During an interview with ABC's "This Week," Christie plunged into his accomplishments in a heavily Democratic state and said his record shows he can unite the GOP.

Christie then mused, "Maybe they should send me the House caucus to try to help them with that."

The Republican-run House is in turmoil after conservatives pushed out Speaker John Boehner, and there's now an internal leadership fight.

A joke about whether Christie was running for speaker drew his attention to the span over New York's East River.
