Chinese Tourist Hit, Killed By Pickup Truck In Laurel
LAUREL, Md. (AP) — A 74-year-old woman visiting the United States from China has died after she was hit by a pickup truck in Laurel.
Maryland State Police tell local media that Yanhua Zhu was hit Tuesday evening. Police say Zhu and her family were travelling from Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. when their tour bus stopped to take a break on southbound Baltimore Avenue.
A pickup truck hit Zhu as she tried to cross a road. She was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck wasn't hurt. Police say they don't believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
