Cold weather blows into Maryland on Sunday night

Arctic cold temperatures to return to Maryland next week

It'll remain chilly, with lots of clouds heading into the second-half of the weekend across Maryland. Still, Sunday features pleasant weather compared to the beginning of the workweek. Another sharp drop in temperatures arrives early Monday morning.

Frosty night across central Maryland, greater Baltimore

Temperatures will continue to drop through the early mornings hours of Sunday. Most communities will manage to dip into the mid and upper 20s. Frost has already formed in parts of the area. Plan on a frosty start. Some of the frost could be thick. If you parked outside and have early morning errands, plan on defrosting in most areas.

Patchy fog may develop late, before lifting right after sunrise.

Arctic cold moves into Maryland late Sunday

Sunday features a mix of sun and clouds. The breeze will pick up a bit through the morning as temperatures re-bound from early morning lows in the mid to upper 20s.

Temperatures will be in the 40s through the Ravens game at M&T Bank Stadium. A breeze will make it feel like it's in the 30s. While not as cold as the home game on Thanksgiving day, it'll feel chilly... especially if you're sitting in a shadier seat.

A strong cold front moves through Sunday night.

We'll wake up to temperatures in the upper 20s and a gusty breeze on Monday morning. It'll feel like it's in the teens and lower 20s in many spots out the door early Monday. Temperatures may actually be coldest after sunrise, around 9 a.m. as the brunt of the cold arrives. The first day of the workweek will be dry and cold. Snow showers should remain to our south, in central and southern Virginia on Monday. Be aware that there could be some slick travel if you are heading that way.

Monday night temperatures plunge into the teens and lower 20s. Tuesday morning will feel especially cold, with a light breeze. Temperatures only peak in the low to mid-30s Tuesday afternoon.

It'll trend just a bit warmer heading into the middle of the week.

More wintry weather cannot be ruled out late next week

Another storm system approaches the Mid-Atlantic later in the workweek.

This system will have more moisture to work with, but the air won't be as cold as the most recent winter weather event. A chance of rain is a good bet on Friday. However, the air could be cold enough for some of this rain to mix with or change over to a wet snow at some point.

The First Alert Weather Team is keeping an eye on this cold, active weather setup. We'll keep you updated through the week.

Have a great evening,

Cutter
