Charges Pending After Woman Injured In Md. Crash

LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Howard County Police say charges are pending after a crash in Laurel over the weekend that seriously injured a woman.

Police say driver was arrested after the crash Saturday night because officers suspected he was under the influence. Police say drunken driving charges are pending, but investigators are awaiting toxicology test results.

Police say 50-year-old Debra Watson of Silver Spring, got out of her disabled Pontiac van and was standing on the shoulder of Route 29. That's when her vehicle was struck by a Volvo. The Pontiac then struck Watson and pushed her into the guardrail.

Police say Watson was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and was in serious but stable condition Sunday.
