Certified Angus Beef has an easy Montreal Style Roast recipe for the holidays

Chef Ashley Breneman from Certified Angus Beef is shares a delicious holiday recipe

BALTIMORE -- Certified Angus Beef appeared on WJZ at 9 on Tuesday to share its Montreal-style New York strip roast recipe with those looking to add a delicious, easy roast to their holiday feast.

The roast serves eight people and just requires a few common spices, mustard, and a strip roast. The cut is perfect for hosts who want to impress guests with similar tastes to a traditional prime rib at an approachable price point, the company said.

Certified Angus Beef Roasts can be found at your nearest Weis Markets location.

It's a relatively quick recipe - the company says preparation takes just 15 minutes, with an hour and 20 minutes of cooking time.

Here's the recipe, as provided by Certified Angus Beef:

INGREDIENTS:
  • 4 pounds Certified Angus Beef ® strip roast
  • 2 tablespoons coarse kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon whole coriander seed
  • 1 teaspoon dill seed (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. RUB. (Ideally done a day ahead of time.) In a small mixing bowl combine salt, pepper, garlic and onion. In a zip-top bag combine coriander seed, dill seed (if using) and red pepper. Place bag on a cutting board and tap with a mallet or a heavy bottomed pan to crack the seeds and break up the chili flakes. Add contents of bag to mixing bowl and combine. Coat roast with Dijon mustard then evenly season with spice blend; refrigerate.
  2. ROAST. Preheat oven to 450°F. Place roast on a roasting pan or sheet pan fitted with a wire rack, bake 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 325°F, continue to cook another 60 to 65 minutes until roast reaches an internal temperature of 120°F. Allow to rest at least 15 minutes before slicing thinly to serve.
