Cecil County Public Library Honored With National Medal

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Cecil County Public Library is being honored with the National Medal.

First lady Michelle Obama is presenting the 2015 National Medal for Museum and Library Service to library Director Denise Davis and community member Thomas Cousar at the White House on Monday.

The National Medal is the nation's highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to the community. The library is one of 10 honorees.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services says the Cecil County Public Library staffers address community challenges and opportunities and the library's targeted outreach to lower-income families prevents summer learning loss. The library connects aspiring entrepreneurs to local networks and specialized classes help veterans transition to civilian life.
