Cattle Killed After Barn Collapses At Frederick Farm

IJAMSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A farmer in Ijamsville says some of his cattle were killed when a barn collapsed under the weight of heavy snowfall.

Douglas Fink says he was on his way to the barn to feed the cows on Saturday morning when the roof collapsed. He says most of the cows were able to run out of the barn but some didn't make it. He's not sure how many were killed.

He says the timing was lucky for him and his wife because if the collapse had happened three minutes later, they would have been inside the barn.

But he says he feels bad because he thought the cows would have been safer in the barn.

Fink and his wife raise several dozen beef cattle along with chickens, goats and pigs.
