Catoctin High School Student Indicted By Grand Jury For Shooting Plot

THURMONT, Md. (WJZ) -- A Thurmont teen was indicted by a grand jury on Friday, on charges of possessing explosive material, and that she was plotting an attack at her school.

The Frederick County State's Attorney, Charlie Smith, confirms that Catoctin High School student, 18-year-old Nicole Anne Cevario was indicted on charges of possessing explosive material and incendiary material, with intent to create a destructive device.

Cevario was arrested at her school on March 23.

Authorities found she had been stockpiling ideas, a shotgun, and explosive materials to target students. Cevario purchased the gun and materials legally.

Catoctin High School officials were warned about the plan by Cevario's father, who discovered the possibly deadly evidence in their Thurmont home.

Investigators found a diary detailing the plot. The diary did not reveal specific targets or bullying but reveals the young suspect is struggling with mental health issues.
