Community mourns deaths of four family members, including teen, in Carroll County crash

BALTIMORE -- A community is mourning the deaths of four family members, including a teenager, who were killed in a multiple-car crash in Carroll County.

The deadly collision happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. That's when state troopers were sent to the westbound side of Liberty Road bear Skidmore Road for the report of a three-vehicle crash, according to authorities.

Maryland State Police said Charles Black III, Barbara Black and 17-year-old Gage Black were all in a car that was traveling westbound when they were rear-ended while trying to turn left onto Skidmore Road.

The impact of the crash pushed the family into the eastbound lanes where they were struck by a third vehicle.

Charles Black III, 69-year-old Barbara Black and 63-year-old Debbie Hill died in the crash. Gage Black was taken to Shock Trauma where he died, troopers said.

The crash is being investigated by Maryland State Police, but at this time, investigators do not believe impaired driving was a factor in this crash.

"They're looking into speed, aggressive driving, distracted driving, things like that," Maryland State Police spokesperson Kyleigh Beaver said. "They are exploring all possible causes in their investigation."

On Facebook, the Francis Scott Key Junior Eagles shared pictures of Gage Black and another teen who was also in the car.

A GoFundMe has been established to help the Black family with burial costs.
