Carlton, Daniel Lead Howard Past Goucher, 101-54

WASHINGTON (AP) -- James Carlton scored 18 in just 20 minutes; James Daniel III added 17 and Howard cruised to a 101-54 win over Goucher on Sunday.

Carlton made 6 of 9 field goals while grabbing seven rebounds, blocking three shots and coming up with three steals. James Miller added 12 points in the win.

Howard (1-1) opened the game with a 12-0 run and held Goucher without a field goal until a 3-pointer by Kevin Miles made it 17-5 with more than 9 minutes in.

Goucher, an NCAA Division III member, made 4 of 26 (15.4 percent) first-half field goals and trailed by as many as 30 points before going into the break behind 46-20.

Howard opened the second half with a 15-4 run, ending any hope of a Gophers' comeback.

The Bison scored 42 points in the paint, shot 51.4 percent from the field and led by as many as 52.
