Cardin Touts Power Plant's Battery Storage System

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin is visiting a western Maryland power plant to discuss its battery-based system for storing electricity for use during periods of peak energy consumption.

Cardin scheduled the visit Friday to AES Corp.'s Warrior Run facility near Cumberland.

Arlington, Virginia-based AES says the system is the largest of its kind in Maryland. It can store 10 megawatts of electricity.
