Cardin To Discuss Health Care Innovation

LA PLATA, Md. (AP) -- Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) is scheduled to discuss ways of meeting health care challenges with innovative care.

Cardin will hold the discussion at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center on Monday in La Plata.

After the discussion, he'll tour the medical center. It has an electronic intensive care unit where patients receive round-the-clock monitoring from remotely located physicians.

Cardin says the center is taking the kinds of creative approaches to better serve modern Maryland communities.

Noel Cervino, president and CEO of the medical center, is scheduled to attend, along with Charles County officials.
