Cardin, Health Practitioners, To Discuss Opioid Epidemic

EDGEWOOD, Md. (AP) — Sen. Ben Cardin is joining local medical and behavioral health practitioners to talk about Maryland's epidemic of opioid addiction.

They will be joined by law enforcement officials on Monday for the discussion in Edgewood.

Participants will talk about how people get addicted and discuss approaches to treatment during the roundtable discussion.

Cardin says some parts of Maryland have the highest per capita rates of heroin and opioid drug use in the country.
