Car Fatally Hits Bicyclist Near Hagerstown Before Fleeing

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office is looking for a car that fatally hit a bicyclist near Hagerstown.

Deputy First Class Carly Hose says 47-year-old John Bushman was struck by a hit-and-run driver at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday on West Washington Street, also known as state Route 144, just west of Hagerstown.

She says both Bushman and the black 2010 Mazda 3 sedan were traveling west. She says investigators believe the Mazda sustained damage to the right front portion of the vehicle, possibly including the wheel well.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to call 240-313-2886.
