Brittany Ghiroli On Trading Matusz For Minor League Pitchers

Brittany Ghiroli covers the Orioles for MLB.com and joined Norris and Davis to talk about the team trading Brian Matusz to the Atlanta Braves.

Brittany started off by talking about the trade that sent Brian Matusz to the Braves for a couple of minor league prospects saying, "I understand the Braves are going to DFA him, they get back a young lefty and a young righty who are okay prospects that were blocked in Atlanta." As for what the Orioles achieved as a part of this trade Brittany said, "they added some pitching they lost Brian Matusz that was obviously the biggie, it just seemed like there wasn't a spot for him because he wasn't pitching well."

Brittany also talked about Ubaldo Jimenez and what happens if he continues to struggle saying, "I think first off what you have to look at is when will Gallardo be ready because that's the next feasible option."

As for the big reason the Orioles won't be able to move Ubaldo, Brittany said, "he's owed $26.5 million over the next two seasons...you're not going to get rid of him you're not going to cut ties."

Brittany also talked about the future of the prospects the Orioles picked up in the Matusz trade and what she thinks of this start to the season by the O's.
