Break-In Reported At Patterson Park Pagoda
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police are investigating after the iconic Patterson Park Pagoda was broken into overnight.
Neighbors reported the windows were broken on the first and third floors and the inside was ransacked Thursday. Supplies, park brochures, lighting and paper were thrown all over.
The damage is estimated at $1,000.
"It's obviously very disappointing," Jennifer Robinson, Executive Director of Friends of Patterson Park, said.
It's frustrating it's annoying," Arch McKown, of the Patterson Park Neighbors Association Safety Committee, said. "They just made a mess of things. It looks like they had a party in there."
Neighbors watched in shock as police investigated.
"It really saddens me to hear that someone broke into it," Maggie Fitzsimmons, a local resident, said. "Whoever broke in should be ashamed of themselves for doing it."
Neighbors said they hope police can catch whoever is responsible.
"People see it as a symbol, and when something like this happens, even if it's not a huge material loss, it's just frustrating," McKown said.
Police are now looking for suspects in the burglary. The group also vandalized the Living Classrooms at the swimming pool.
The building will be boarded up while they wait for repairs.
