Boy Injured After Struck By Parade Float

CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a 7-year-old boy participating in Centreville's Christmas parade was injured after he tried to get off a moving parade float.

Centreville police say the boy, who was riding on the float in Friday's parade, slipped and fell and was run over by the float near the end of the parade route.

The Star-Democrat of Easton reports that police and emergency personnel attended to the boy, who was flown to John Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore for treatment of leg and facial injuries, which police say are not believed to be life threatening.
