Bowie State Professor Chosen As Md. State Delegate

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan has chosen an associate professor at Bowie State University to fill a state delegate seat representing parts of Frederick and Carroll counties.

A spokeswoman for the Republican governor said Tuesday that Barrie Ciliberti of Urbana will fill the seat vacated by Delegate Kelly Schulz' pending appointment as secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Ciliberti tells The Frederick News-Post that Hogan gave him the news Monday. He says he doesn't know when he'll be sworn into office.

The 78-year-old Republican is an associate professor in Bowie State's College of Education. He served one term in the House of Delegates from 1995 to 1998, representing part of Montgomery County.
