Boomer Between The Games: Week 12 Preview With Mike Quick

By DJ Sixsmith

In Week 11 of the NFL season, Kirk Cousins proved he's worth the money and the Dallas Cowboys set a franchise record with nine consecutive wins. This season, NFL fans will be able to hear even more about their favorite teams in a brand new digital show called Boomer Between the Games. Hosted by NFL on CBS analyst and WFAN radio host Boomer Esiason, the former NFL quarterback gives his thoughts on the week that was in the National Football League and chats with an all-star roster of guests about the upcoming week of games.

This week on Boomer Between the Games, former NFL wide receiver Mike Quick returned to the program. Mike was a 5x Pro Bowler with the Philadelphia Eagles and scored 61 touchdowns in his NFL career. The former first round pick now calls Eagles games on Philadelphia Sports Radio 94.1 WIP.

This week's episode started off with a conversation about Washington's huge offensive performance against the Green Bay Packers. Boomer has been a believer in Kirk Cousins for a while and this game was further proof to the host of Boomer Between the Games that Cousins deserves a big contract in the offseason. Quick is a big fan of Cousins' tight end Jordan Reed, who dominated the Packers defense in Week 11. Both former NFL players highlighted the major issues with the Packers defense. Aaron Rodgers didn't have a turnover against Washington, but it didn't matter as the Packers defense allowed a whopping 42 points.

Additionally, the two former NFL players discussed Dallas's victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Esiason was extremely impressed with the way Dallas handled its offense in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys won the time of possession game and held on to the ball for over 36 minutes against the NFL's #1 defense. Esiason loved the way Dallas's offensive line pushed around the Ravens in the trenches. Quick added on to the conversation by saying that Ezekiel Elliott gets better as the game goes on. The former Eagles wide receiver called the Cowboys one of the best teams in the NFL. Both Boomer and Mike are still amazed by how Dak Prescott and Elliott look nothing like rookies. The guys also took a look back at Philadelphia's road loss to Seattle. Carson Wentz once again had issues, but Esiason and Quick believe the rookie will be Philly's quarterback for many years to come.

The biggest storyline heading into Week 12 is the matchup between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. This Turkey Day matchup is extremely intriguing given Dallas's incredible start and Washington's rise over the last few weeks. Esiason believes the Skins are at major disadvantage due to their short week. Boomer doesn't like who the NFL scheduled Washington for the Sunday night game and then forced them to hit a three hour flight down to Dallas early Monday morning. Quick was on the same page and predicts the Cowboys will wear the Redskins down as the game progresses. The former NFL quarterback and former NFL wide receiver also previewed Philadelphia's Week 12 matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Mike feels as though this could be the perfect time for Wentz to get back on track with his struggling wide receivers. The Packers have one of the worst defenses in football. Esiason likes the Eagles at home by a big margin.

Finally, Boomer and Mike grabbed a fan question from Twitter. The former NFL MVP and the 5x Pro Bowler discussed whether or not the Baltimore Ravens can be trusted going forward. While Esiason loves the Ravens top five defense, the co-host of Boomer and Carton believes Baltimore won't have much success with its tough schedule. Esiason sees Baltimore beating Cincinnati, however he isn't as confident in the games Baltimore has against New England, Miami and Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Quick called out Joe Flacco and said the former Super Bowl champion has to play better in order for the Ravens to compete in the AFC North. Both guys agree that the AFC North will only get one playoff team.

Boomer Between the Games will be available every week here on CBS Local Sports. Throughout the entire season, Boomer will be joined by guests like former Pro Bowl wide receiver Cris Collinsworth and 2x Super Bowl champ Phil Simms. Former NFL player Chris Simms will stop by next week to look back at Week 12 and look ahead to the great games in Week 13. Join the conversation with Boomer each week by using #BoomerBTG and one of your tweets could be included in next week's show.
