Body Recovered From Waterway In Anne Arundel County

LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) -- A body has been recovered near the spot where a canoeist went missing last week in Linthicum.

According to the Capital of Annapolis, the body was recovered Tuesday morning in Patapsco Valley State Park. A fire department spokesman says officials could not yet confirm whether the body is that of 55-year-old William Jones, Jr., of Hanover.

Natural Resources Police say Jones went missing Nov. 3 when he and another man pushed their canoe out into a pond and the canoe began taking on water.

Police say a fisherman was able to rescue one of the men but Jones went under the water and didn't re-emerge. Neither of the men was wearing a life jacket.

Authorities say search efforts to find Jones were hampered by murky water and underwater debris.
