Body Cameras Among Frederick Police Chief's Priorities

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The new police chief in Frederick says his priorities include reducing violent crime and investigating gang activity.

Chief Edward Hargis also told The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1gu23t4) on Thursday that police officers may be issued body cameras in the coming months.

Hargis took command Thursday after six years as chief of police in Portsmouth, Virginia.

He says he plans to start two new programs by September aimed at promoting community discussion about policing. One would involve adult community leaders while the other would involve high school students.
