Boat Brawlers Face Multiple Charges

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Two Anne Arundel county men have been charged with multiple violations in connection with a fight that happened on a boat last month.

On July 23, the Coast Guard and the Cambridge Police responded to a call of  two men fighting on a  powerboat, on the Choptank river.

21-year-old Asia Cooper Jr. and 19-year-old Joel Cooper of Crownsville, were charged with 2nd degree assault, malicious destruction of property, disorderly conduct and fighting in public in a manner that disturbs the peace.

Asia Cooper Jr. was also charged with reckless operation and negligent operation.

If found guilty of all charges, Cooper could face jail time and fines up to $6,500. Joel Cooper faces fines up to $5,500.

The rented powerboat sustained about $3,000 in damages.
