Blue Moon Appeared Friday Morning

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- An astronomy story that only happens once in a blue moon took place this morning.

The blue moon was visible in the sky at 6:43 a.m. even though it might not be blue.

The term "blue moon" is used when two full moons appear within the same month.

Although the moon can sometimes appear blue if there's ash in the Earth's atmosphere.

The next one will not come around until 2018.
