ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- The Blue Angels performed Wednesday during the U.S. Naval Academy's Commissioning Week above the Severn River.

Tracey Leong has more.

It's a tradition that attracts thousands of fans and never disappoints, whether it's your first or 20th time watching.

Anticipation was building Wednesday at the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans were eager to see the Blue Angels soar across the sky to perform highly impressive maneuvers at great heights.

"It never gets old. It's always exciting. No matter how old you are, you feel like a kid again," one man said.

The performance showcased the pilots' skills with high speed passes and low flying turns.

"I honestly didn't think I would be as scared as I was watching them flying all the way up, but it was really cool," one woman said.

The Blue Angels travel all over the country. Having them in Annapolis was a treat not only for fans, but the Naval Academy as well.

"It's just another way of doing really good outreach with the people who support the Naval Academy," said Commander John Schfield, U.S. Naval Academy.

Two of the pilots on the Blue Angels team are U.S. Naval Academy graduates, including one of the first female pilots.

"I just think the Blue Angels are pretty cool," one woman said.

For more than an hour, all eyes were glued on the sky.

"Oh, it was very impressive. These jets are unbelievable, how they fly. Pilots are unbelievable," one man said.

The jaw-dropping show gave the crowd an unforgettable experience.

"I would describe it as everyone needs to go watch it at least once," one woman said.

The Blue Angels will also be performing in Annapolis on Friday for the Naval Academy graduation ceremony.

Wednesday's show was also the first time a Naval Academy superintendent flew with the Blue Angels.
